From the company literature, systems and branding to their constant presence in the community, the owner and fantastically fabulous walkers of Barks & Blooms have truly shined a professional light on the pet-sitting industry.
McDonough nominated her team’s efforts for the Hartford County Humane Society’s Bowl-A-Rama. Barks & Blooms embarked on a campaign to raise money that began with a newsletter sent to clients and ended with Barks & Blooms being the third highest fundraiser for the event.
McDonough and her staff have participated in and donated to many charitable events since opening their doors in July 2008; including the Bow Wow Boogie, Pets on Wheels Dog-A-Thon, Wag-A-Thon and Dog Fest.
McDonough was presented with PSI’s first Platinum PAW Award at the recent regional meeting in Atlanta, GA, and briefly spoke to the crowd about her philosophy for success.
She stated that she chose four different areas to strive for professionalism in – marketing, staff, community relations and, of course, customer service.
“Your marketing must look professional because it is your first impression to the client, staff and community,” McDonough said.
She also spoke about the importance of staff and independent contractors to be participants in the grand plan.
“The people who work for you and with you must know your ideas and goals; as well as add to them and own them,” she said.
McDonough shared her goal for Barks & Blooms; which was to achieve a level of professionalism with the staff for their customers and their community. Looks like she succeeded!
Congratulations Colleen and all the Fantastically Fabulous Walkers of Barks & Blooms!
