Guidelines for Submitting Articles for PublicationThe WORLD of Professional Pet Sitting
All articles submitted for consideration must include complete information on the identity of the writer; i.e., address, phone number and any relevant credentials. Prior to publication, the author will be required to sign a Publishing Agreement which defines the publication and payment terms agreed upon between the publisher and the author. All guidelines are subject to change. Please contact publisher with questions.
The author will be paid for an article accepted for publication at a rate that varies for content, length, inclusion of photos and other related materials. Currently, this rate is between $50 and $200. All accepted articles received via e-mail will earn a $10 premium. Payment will be made at time of publication. The author will receive a copy of the issue in which the article appears and additional copies may be purchased for a nominal fee. Not all submissions will be accepted; to have an article returned, a self-addressed, stamped envelope must be included.
Articles should be submitted on typed pages via FAX, e-mail or postal mail. If e-mailed or mailed on a diskette, copy must have been produced in an IBM-compatible format in a version of Microsoft WORD™ or text-only files. Physical address is 201 E. The publisher reserves the right to edit all submissions for content and length. Publisher does not assume any responsibility for submitted materials. Photos will be returned upon request; a self-addressed, stamped envelope must be included. Issues are published bimonthly and are normally mailed out during the first week of the second month covered in the issue. Feature Articles
Good photographs accompanying an article increase the likelihood it will be used and can increase the amount Publisher is willing to pay for an article. All due care will be taken to ensure that submitted materials are returned to the author in good shape. However, PSI is not responsible for any materials damaged or lost in the process. Photography Member Profiles The WORLD regularly features articles about PSI members and includes that member’s history, why he or she became a pet sitter, challenges, problems, successes, community involvement, hobbies, special clients and their pets, pet-sitting specialties and additional topics to inform readers about the member. This may also include PSI members who are uniquely involved in their communities, have had an unusual experience in pet sitting or have gone “above and beyond the call of duty” as a pet sitter This is a voluntary feature, and members are not paid for published profiles. Any member interested in being profiled must contact the publisher and submit the necessary information. This may be in the form of a self-written article, information prepared by a third party (client or friend) or by completing a questionnaire available from the publisher. A color photograph of the member must be included, with pets preferred.
Upon acceptance for publication, all articles become the property of Pet Sitters International. No reproduction or re-publication of any article is permitted without express, written permission from PSI.
