April 08 E-News - Most Unusual Client RequestsDuring my very first client interview, I had to ask the question, "In the event of your pet’s death in your absence, what arrangements should be made?" The response from the client was, “Just put Amos in the freezer and I'll take care of him when I return.” Obviously, my next question was, “Where is the freezer?” (I was expecting a large appliance that would be located somewhere in the basement.) The client responded, “Right behind you in the bottom of the refrigerator.”
Another more comical response to the “event of your pet’s death” question from a different client was, “Call your minister! And pray I don’t find you!” (He was joking.) - Linda Howard, Linda's Pet Sitting Services LLC, Nashua, NH
I had a client (the pet is deceased now) who would give me a notebook of instructions for caring for her pet. I was asked to warm up chicken soup or hamburger for her as well as give her supplements. If this did not work and she wouldn't eat, I would have to give her whipped cream, which she would lick off of my fingers. For the outdoor animals (rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, raccoons, etc.), I would have to cut up apples and slices of bread to feed them twice a day. They all had a wonderful feast. - Beverlee Furillo, Pet Tenders, Broadview Heights, OH
