Caring for Multiple Pets

2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.: Breakout Session

Pial Silvani, CPDT: “Caring for Multiple Pets”Training Dogs and Cats

Most people in today’s society have more than one pet. Teaching the pets to be polite and patient will help the owners deal with their pets’ behavior when they return.
Not only are you hired to give the pet exercise, but you should be monitoring its behavioral health as well. The pet may be suffering as a result of being left alone. Perhaps the dog is fine when the owner is home, but is barking at you when you are there. If the owners call to check up on how the cats are doing, do you tell them that you haven’t seen them in four days?
Helping the pet learn what you expect of him rather than disciplining him for simply being overly excited will lower the pet’s stress as well as teach him good manners.
Pia will give you tips on training not only dogs but also cats as well as show some fun videos. Want to take a stab at clicker training cats? Pia has been doing it in shelters with great success.
