"As my business has grown, I've tried to give gifts to each of my furry and feathered friends without spending more than $1.50 per item. Gift shopping for kitties has been a challenge, but I have managed to find a few things that have worked well for me:
"Last year I made over 350 dough ornaments that I personalized with my clients' pets names. It was very labor intensive, but the ornaments turned out great. (I had to start this process in January!) "In December I gave an inexpensive chew or play toy to my clients' pets for Christmas. I also sent a Christmas card to all of my clients - and included the pet names on the cards. "In an effort to go 'green,' I use recycled newspaper as litter for cat boxes and rodent cages.
"I also suggest following up with clients and sending a client satisfaction survey after the holidays. New clients will appreciate this level of customer service and hopefully call again.
"My favorite pet product right now is the Feliway plug-in diffuser. It relaxes nervous kitties and helps keep them from clawing the furniture and with inappropriate urination.
