Savvy Sitter Suggestions - March 09
"Both surgeries occured within a couple of months of each other. My husband was concerned about how long Black Jack would live, as he
"Our vet recommended giving Black Jack Pet Tabs once a day and we saw significant changes in our dog. He had more energy and acted like a much younger than he really was. Black Jack ran more often and for longer periods of time. He really did seem a lot spunkier.
"Our baby Black Jack lived to be 19-years-old. I always like to tell people about Black Jack because I believe Pet Tabs are an important part of a pet’s life. Black Jack loved them! They were his first treat of the day." -Sue Kampf, Sue's Pet Sitting & Boarding, Lutz, FL
"When I leave the client's home, I remove the shower caps from my shoes. Sometimes I can reuse the caps several times. I often use the shower caps to cover my shoes when I go out in the yard with the dog and the grass is wet. This keeps my feet dry. Just be careful - they can be a little slippery on carpet." -Pat Olson, Angel Paws Petsitting, Olathe, KS
"I LOVE the litter lifter scoopers. When the scoopers were first introduced at a long ago PSI conference, I ordered a whole box of them. Over the years I gave the litter lifters to my special clients as Christmas gifts. I also use them to scoop my three litter boxes. The "sifting" tines are long enough to get under the litter and the scooper is sturdy enough to handle the weight of litters that harden like cement at the bottom of the box.
"I have another suggestion concerning litter boxes. Shortly after establishing my cat-sitting business fifteen years ago, I soon became frustrated with trying to find bags that didn't have small holes in them while scooping in a client's litter box. Many of my clients have several cats and numerous litter boxes. Aside from "holey" bags, sometimes there wasn't enough bags in the home for me to scoop the litter box for the duration of client's absense.
"On the day the client is scheduled to return home, I always 'bag' each litter scooper in the house. That way the owner has a convenient, clean, plastic bag (without holes) to scoop soiled litter into. In fact, the cat owners like the aesthetics of the bags so much, I found that they are keeping the scoopers in the bags - rather than actually using them! In fact, when I return to the clients' homes for another visit, I frequently find the scoopers still nicely stored in the bag I left. It has become something that CAT CARE by Carole is known for." -Carole Rexer, CAT CARE by Carole, Houston, TX
