Meet PSI's 2009 Pet Sitter of the Year, Cara Armour, owner of Active Paws

Armour met some of the most significant people in her life at the dog park: her best friends, future clients and her husband (and business partner). Active Paws hit the ground running with two highly motivated individuals holding the leashes - Cara and Gerard Armour were married in 2006 and own two Boxers (father and son) and a cat named Kit.

Working as a store manager for a local sporting goods company, Armour decided that top-level management in retail was not her goal. She wanted an occupation where she felt more connected to the customers in offering services that would enhance their lives. She also had guilt about leaving her own puppy too long without a reliable soul to check on him while at work. Armour became a regular at a local dog park and soon decided to create her own pet-sitting business, Active Paws, in January 2004.
