About Us

Happenings Hounds Pet Services has been created with a nod to the unique needs of our clients and their pets. We provide a wide variety of services for many types of animals, ranging from routine visits for potty breaks, administration of medicine, feedings and walks. We have an extensive history in working with senior animals, and are sensitive to their special needs, as well as the needs of pets living with diabetes, cancer and more.

Overnight sitting in your home is also available, which includes mail and newspaper pick-up, feeders stocked for wild birds, koi/outdoor ponds fed and maintained, plants watered, and curtains and lighting adjusted. All the basics to enable your pets to be able to stay in the comfort of their own home. We also provide a sense of security so you never need to worry about leaving your home unprotected.

Ask about our referral program, "Who's Walking Whom?". When you and a friend or neighbor (sitter must be able to comfortably walk to the second house or business for visit) book pet services for the same day, EACH of you will receive a $5 discount for that service. This special does not expire and can be used on either the 30 or 60 minute visits. Not applicable with Barker's Dozen program.


In the interest of those who do not have a joiner for the referral program, Happening Hounds is proud to present our "Barker's Dozen" program. When you have paid for 12 daily visits, your 13th is FREE! Ask about our special Barker's Dozen cards to get started. Not applicable with Who's Walking Whom program.

To book a session

An initial Meet & Greet session will assist in determining the full needs of you and your pets, and give you some time to get to know us as well. Meet & Greet visits are kept to a time-limit of 20 minutes, and are free. We are also open to meeting at various dog parks. Please contact us directly for scheduling.

Pet Sitting Sessions booked as follows:


15 minutes $10.00
30 minutes $15.00
60 minutes $20.00
Overnights $55.00


Overnight visits include the necessary daily walks or potty breaks that your pets are used to. For holiday overnights, extended stays or various peak season events, a 20% deposit may be necessary. This will be applied to your overall bill.


We encourage your inquiry if your pets have specific needs not mentioned above. We are certified by the American Red Cross in Pet CPR and First Aid, and are fully insured and bonded. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have further questions.

Must Love Dogs NW is a dog rescue organization with a mission to provide services that help combat the issues facing the homeless and soon-to-be homeless dogs in our community. Their team of dog fosters, canine behaviorists, and volunteers have a combined experience of over 100 years, and have saved over 2000 lives, through various rescue efforts. Fences For Fido is another wonderful group of people, with a concept I had never heard of before moving to Portland. Meeting them and spending time volunteering has made a difference in my life, knowing that together this group has made such a difference to the families and dogs they build for.

The work of Fences For Fido is deeply rooted in establishing a healthier, happier bond between a dog and his family, but the work does not end there. They create safer and improved conditions for chained dogs by providing shelter, veterinary care, and spay and neutering services when necessary. They work to educate families on how to best care for their four-legged family members during the heat of the summer and the cold, wet winter months.
