Calling all fans! Does your business have a Facebook page?

Pet sitters use Facebook

Many of you, by now, have delved into the world of social media. For many, participating on sites such as Facebook offers a great way to keep in touch and share information and photos with family and friends—but are you taking full advantage of Facebook’s opportunities to promote your pet-sitting service?

If not, now is the time to learn how to use a Facebook fan page to connect with current and potential clients, as well as other pet-care professionals.

Remember, while you may have “friends” on Facebook, your business needs fans—individuals who use and will recommend your pet-sitting service to their friends. Creating a fan page for your business is a simple, cost-effective way to promote your business online and allow others to promote your services as well, with just the click of a mouse!

How to Create a Fan Page for Your Pet-Sitting Service

Creating a page for your business is quite simple. First you will need to have a Facebook account. If you already have a personal profile on Facebook, you are all set. If not, you can easily sign up for an account on Facebook.com. All you need is an e-mail address.

Once you have a personal Facebook account, follow these easy steps to create a fan page for your pet-sitting service:

1. Log-in to your Facebook account.

2. On the main screen, select “Ads and Pages” from the left-hand column.

3. On the “Ads and Pages” landing page, select “Create a Page.”  If you don't see this category, go to this link: http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php

4. On the “Create a Page” screen, you will select the criteria for your “Official Page.”

To do this, indicate that the page is for a “local business” and create a page name (most likely your business name). Last, check the box indicating that you are the official representative for the business on this page.

At this point, your new fan page has been created! You will see that it looks much like your personal profile page. You will want to edit and update the page to better promote your business.
