Pet Sitters International Launches First-of-its-Kind Program for New Pet Sitters

PSI’s First Year Focus program offers extra support, resources for first-year members

KING, NC, January 3, 2011—Pet Sitters International (PSI) announces the launch of its First Year Focus program. The program, designed specifically for first-year members, offers educational and marketing materials customized to address the needs of new independent pet-care business owners.

According to the U.S. Small Business Administration roughly 50 percent of all small businesses fail within the first five years. For professional pet sitters, the first year of business can be extremely challenging as business owners seek to market their services, establish a client base and learn best pet-care practices.

“As the pet-sitting industry leader, PSI continually evaluates the needs of current and prospective business owners,” said PSI president Patti Moran. “The First Year Focus program is designed to give more targeted educational tools and resources to those entering this service industry for the first time.”

The First Year Focus combines Web-based and print resources to educate new members on pertinent pet-care and business issues such as pet safety, pet behavior, business structure and low-cost marketing. First-year PSI members will also have access to a resource and template gallery with free promotional materials and press release templates.

These materials are offered in addition to a wide range of existing association benefits, including free monthly webinars, a detailed marketing guide, access to business and health insurance, HR tools and discounts on business supplies and services.
