Pet Sitters International selected as winner of Piedmont Business Ethics AwardApril 21, 2010
Gregg Schlaudecker, awards co-chair, said that the judges were challenged with the high quality of this year’s entrants, but that ultimately PSI won due to its leadership in the industry.
“The judges chose PSI because it is a trailblazer in an industry that previously had no formal ethical guidelines for doing business,” Schlaudecker said. “Patti Moran’s leadership in this industry has had a positive impact on the entire field of pet care.”
Moran, PSI’s president, founded the association in 1994 and is considered a pioneer in the pet-care industry.
Additional award criteria included executive commitment to business ethics, a corporate code of ethics and a consistently high quality of products, services and business and production practices. Criteria also included a community commitment demonstrated by corporate philanthropy and involvement in charitable endeavors.
Companies are judged in one of four categories based on their number of employees and PSI was judged in the category of 50 or fewer employees.
“I have long said that pet sitting is a career and an industry that owes its success to the old-fashioned attributes of honesty and trustworthiness,” Moran said. “We share these values with our nearly 8,000 member businesses in the United States, Canada and abroad. To have PSI recognized in a way that honors these values is unbelievably rewarding.” |
