Title: "How to read and understand a pet food label"

Date/Time: Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at 4 p.m. ET.

Presenter: Dr. William D. Schoenherr, Principal Scientist, R&D Product Development, Hill's Pet Nutrition

Pet owners must be as careful buying food for their animal companions as when buying food for themselves. Nutritional details are listed on bags and cans, just as with human food. But, as often is the case with human food labels, we don't know how to read them or interpret what they mean. This webinar will explore what is listed on a pet food label and give you the tools to help decipher that information for the betterment of your pet.

Meet the Presenter:

Dr. Schoenherr is currently conducting research and project leadership that would result in new and improved products and feeding programs for companion animals.

He worked as an Extension Swine Specialist and Assistant Professor of Nutrition at North Carolina State University. In 1992, he joined Consolidated Nutrition, L.C. as Senior Swine Nutritionist, Research and Development. Then, in 1995, he joined Hill’s, as principal scientist.

Dr. Shoenherr earned his Master’s in Science in Animal Nutrition from Kansas State University in 1983 and his Ph.D. in Animal Nutrition from the University of Kentucky, in 1987.
