2nd Chance for petsDuring PSI's free member webinar on Wednesday, Dec. 14, Amy Shever, Executive Director of 2nd Chance 4 Pets, will discuss how you, as a pet-care professional, can help your clients prepare for the possibility that their pet's might outlive them.

Thousands of pets end up at animal shelters each year simply because they outlived pet owners who had not planned for their continued care. Typically “orphaned” pets do not do well in the shelter environment, they may become despondent, they won’t eat and are labeled “unadoptable.”

This webinar will outline what options are available to ensure “lifetime care” for pets and how you can help your pet owner clients plan for the possibility that their pets might outlive them. The content delivered in our presentation will help pet sitters understand how to educate pet owner clients about how to plan for the lifetime care of their pets.

Topics included in the presentation:

  • planning for emergencies,
  • identifying caregivers and maintaining written care instructions,
  • legal options such as pet trusts, wills and estates, and
  • setting up a financial plan so pet sitters who do take over the care of a client’s pets will have the financial means to do so.
