Pet Sitters International Partners with Area Businesses for Holiday “Pet Project” PSI’s Hungry Bowl™ Pet Food Drive Collects More Than 1,000 Pounds of Pet Food for Local Organizations
King, NC (PSI)— Pet Sitters International (PSI) partnered with other Stokes County businesses to collect more than 1,000 pounds of cat and dog food December 1-12. The donations were collected as a part of PSI’s Hungry Bowl™ Pet Food Drive—an effort to collect much-needed pet food for needy pets in the county shelter and rescue facilities.
The cat and dog food collected was divided between four organizations: Animal Rescue of Stokes County, the Stokes County Animal Shelter, Stokes Humane Society and East Stokes Outreach Ministry. Despite challenging economic times, this year’s totals were double the 500 pounds of pet food collected during last year’s drive.
“We are thrilled with the support of local businesses and the community’s participation in this year’s pet food drive,” said Patti Moran, PSI president. “In a difficult economic environment, these organizations are helping local pets in need and will make good use of the collected pet food.”
Ten businesses across the county served as collection drop-off locations for the Hungry Bowl™ Pet Food Drive including The Stokes News, Hair Vibes, the King locations of Lowe’s Foods and Food Lion, Pampered Pooch Pet Salon, Danbury and King Public Libraries, Boles Grocery Store and King Veterinary Hospital.
PSI’s local Hungry Bowl™ Pet Food Drive is part of the association’s larger, international effort to help pets in need. As part of the effort, PSI also reached out to its 7,500 association members to facilitate local Hungry Bowl™ Pet Food Drives in their communities December 1-12.
