“Sugar face” is a term of endearment for senior dogs. Their white snouts are like a frosting of sweet sugar – a sugar face!

• Boarding in my home

• Day Care in my home

• Slow, Gentle Walks, with lots of Sniffing

• Special Needs Care both medical and psychological - Meds, Sub-Q fluids, shy, timid dogs

• Dog Taxi to the vets, the groomer, the airport, or to grandma's house.

• Play Dates in my yard with dogs who know each other and love to romp around together.

• Personal Doggie Chef - No time to make that special home made diet your vet suggested? Let me do it for you and free up your time to love your pooch!

• Drop-in Visits at your house are limited to “easy to get to neighborhoods and properties” in Piedmont, Oakland, and Berkeley with few stairs.

• Light Grooming - Let me do a good brushing of your fur baby before company comes or before the family portrait, or just to reduce the fur tumble weeds in the house!

• Poop Clean-Up for routine or extreme cases. Don't be shy to ask for help. I'm sure we all have a few good poop stories! (ugh! I know I do!)

• Pet Food & Pet Supply Delivery Management - I help manage your pantry and delivery subscriptions to Chewy.com, iHerb.com, etc., from my home computer.

• We offer Lots of Fun, Enrichment, Attention and Love for your sweet, old dog!

• End of Life Support when the time comes.

♥ INSPIRATION ♥

My inspiration for Sugar Face Dogs - Senior Dog Care came from my 25+ years of having my own senior dogs, all rescues, 11 so far (RIP).

I started Sugar Face Dogs – Senior Dog Care in 2023 as a way to remain in service to the world and keep my heart open as I slow down and move into the third stage of my life – my retirement years. (I'm a "sugar face" too!)

I love senior dogs. Caring for senior dogs is my passion, calling, avocation, charism, & spiritual gift.

♥ BACKGROUND ♥

I come from a family of dog, animal, plant, and nature lovers.

Besides the 11 senior dogs in my adult life, I grew up with 3 dogs – Duchess, a golden German Shepard rescue, and Shorty & Spunky, AKC Dachshunds, and a bunch of their puppies.

I’ve also had 13 cats (including looking after a TNR colony of feral cats in my neighborhood), birds, a pet chicken, a pet mouse, a pet guinea pig, and rescue gold fish (that I found at the bus stop!).

My mom was a teacher. She brought into her class room animals from the Alexander Lindsay Junior Museum in Walnut Creek for her students to interact with. Of course, I interacted with the animals, too, at home.

I’ve witnessed the births and deaths of these creatures, the circle of life. It’s hard on the heart. But it is real.

My dog experience, besides the above mentioned 14 dogs and 13 cats in my personal life, includes:

Doggy Lama Pet Care, Oakland, CA – as a dog walker & boarder, and cat care giver

Muttville Senior Dog Rescue, San Francisco, CA – various volunteer work, plus I’ve adopted 4 dogs from them, 1 was a hospice doggie

Golden Gate Labrador Retriever Rescue, San Francisco, CA – a little volunteer work, fostered 1 hospice dog which I ended up adopting
