About My Business

Animals are in our lives as a way for human beings to learn about compassion, patience, unconditional love, and companionship. If we pay attention, we can learn much about ourselves and how we interact with others by watching animal behavior. They alert us to all of the underlying emotions and feelings we have as humans: joy, sadness, fear, and acceptance. They make us better human beings.

My love of animals began, as most people do, as a child. However, my acute understanding of animals didn't happen until I was in college. I started pet sitting and also taking in unwanted animals. When I truly began to understand how animals enhance our lives, my love for animals grew.

A little about me!

I had a dog growing up. My dog experienced much with my family. We traveled with him, moved across the country, and survived a brutal dog attack. However, old age and cancer took him from us after 15 years. This loss devastated me, and the thought of having pets again didn't cross my mind for over a decade. Once I bought my first house, it didn't feel complete without a dog. So, I researched dogs and found a local rescue group where I adopted my dog, Fritz. Soon after, I returned to the same rescue group and chose Otto. They were miniature schnauzers from a puppy mill in central Ohio. They brought joy to my life; we had many road trips, hikes, and travels to new states. We made many friends and faced many hardships too.

Otto was diagnosed with cancer in 2015 and passed. I was given a puppy from a work colleague soon after, and Zoe joined the family. Special needs senior dog Charlie joined immediately after Zoe. I had three musketeers for about a year. Then, on New Year's Eve 2016, Homer joined the pack. Four dogs were the most I'd ever had! We were a lively bunch. Then Charlie's dementia (canine cognitive dysfunction) got the best of him, and we said goodbye in early 2018. In August 2018, a long-time dog-sitting client Buckey came to live permanently with our family. Back to four dogs!

During this time, I started my business. I had severe health issues that precluded me from working a full-time job any longer. After leaving full-time work in June 2015 and feeling better at the beginning of 2017, I decided to make animals my permanent passion. I started small, but my clientele grew when I began working with a local boutique pet store. Then it grew through word-of-mouth and repeat business.

2019 saw a significant personal loss. In February, Fritz suddenly became ill. Despite my vet hospitalizing him for over a week, Fritz passed away in March. In May, I lost Homer to an acute illness as well. The week of Thanksgiving, Buckey had a stroke, and we said goodbye. There was a highlight in 2019, though. In August, a new client came to live with me permanently after her owner suffered a stroke. Chanel has blossomed during the year she has been with me. It is the first time in 13 years that I only have two dogs, and females at that!

During all of my losses, my business kept growing. I have over 30 clients now. I work seven days a week. I love caring for all the new friends I've made in the last three years. I have had to say goodbye to some, but I carry their memories with me always. They taught me lessons for which I will always be grateful.

Caring for your pets is my passion. It is my only focus while I'm with your pet. Your pet receives love, care, and my full attention. Many of my clients say they can tell their pets had a happy visit or vacation upon their return.

I offer a variety of services for your pet's needs. I am an incorporated business in Ohio, bonded and insured. I have certification in pet first aid and CPR. I continue my education by taking courses provided through Pet Sitters International. I received my Certified Professional Pet Sitter CPPS®️ certification in October 2022.

What my clients say:

"We recently hired Auntie Jenn to take care of our 8-month-old, high-energy velcro puppy for a week-long vacation. It was our first vacation away from him and I was terribly stressed about leaving him… Until we met Jenn! During our meet and greet, it was clear our puppy would be in exceptionally capable and caring hands. She was beyond qualified and demonstrated a calming disposition and a genuine love for animals. We booked Jenn to stay overnight and visit for several hours during the day. She kept us updated with regular messages, photos and videos, which made us smile and offered peace of mind while we were away. Our puppy quickly exhibited his idiosyncrasies during her stay—further confirmation that he was comfortable and happy. Upon our return, our puppy was noticeably calm and content, a testament to Jenn’s excellent care. To top it off, Jenn even laundered sheets and towels! I am grateful for her attention to detail, respect for our home, and the extraordinary care of our dog. Jenn absolutely surpassed our expectations and we will definitely use her services again. We highly recommend Auntie Jenn is Here to anyone seeking professional, top-quality care for their pets."

"I can’t say enough amazing things about Jenn. We have a 100 pound labradoodle and I couldn’t imagine boarding him when we traveled. We had Jenn stay at our home on several occasions and our dog was so happy! I was also less stressed while away knowing he was under her loving care. She truly treats all her clients pets like her own animals. We also used her services for some walking appointments and Jenn was very punctual and her communication is above par. We appreciate all the love and attention to gives to our pup! She truly is amazing!"
