Hello, I'm John "Jack" Ellis, owner of Good Dog Sitter Jack, LLC. My professional petsitting and housesitting business is offering services in the Olympic Peninsula and the surrounding area. I look forward to the opportunity to care for your pets and your home. For pet owners using my services, you can be confident that your pets are receiving competent care when work or travel takes you away from home. I prefer to care for your pet for three days and longer duration. Large dogs are welcome!

I am a lifelong pet owner and pet lover and will respect your home and property and treat your pets how you expect them to be treated, using positive reinforcement and maintaining your pet’s daily routine as much as possible.

As a college graduate, I have a BS, MA, and postgraduate management certificate. I am a retired Firefighter-Medic/Deputy Fire Marshal (IAFF), nationally Registered Environmental Health Specialist Emeritus (REHS-E), and former US Park Ranger. For 25 years, I worked in environmental health including rabies intervention and animal cruelty investigation programs.

Dog Sitter Jack, LLC is a fully licensed, insured, bonded, and registered limited liability company (LLC) in the State of Washington. In addition, I am a member of Pet Sitters International (PSI), one of the world’s largest educational associations for professional petsitters.

I will travel outside the Olympic Peninsula for long-term sitting with travel expenses reimbursed if my schedule allows.

Good Dog Sitter Jack, LLC is a solo practitioner limited to caring for the client's pets in their homes for stays not less than three days with new clients (new client's three-day minimum fee applies to stays shorter than three days) and up to as long as my schedule allows. I only take on one client during any period so I will be with your pets 24/7 in your home except for short personal errands like grocery runs where the weather conditions or pet temperament may not be conducive to leaving a pet in my vehicle.

The base fee is $100/day or a portion of a day (which works out to less than 30% of Washington State's minimum wage). All travel expenses for one round trip from Port Townsend, any errands, or pet deliveries are charged at 75¢ per mile and all tolls and ferries. More than one pet is negotiable but, in many cases, there is no additional fee if your pets are healthy, housetrained and you have a fenced yard.

There is no fee for the Meet & Greet but travel expenses for travel outside of Port Townsend city limits will be charged at 75¢ per mile for the round trip plus tolls and ferries.

Four tasks are important and non-negotiable for new clients except for extraordinary circumstances:

The first task is to have a Meet & Greet to see if I am a good fit with your expectations and with your pets.

The second task is for you to have a completed Client Information form on file. The form will be left with you at our Meet & Greet or I can email the form as a PDF document before we meet.

The third task is, at the time of the actual petsitting, for me to arrive at your home before your departure time to show your pets the continued care in your absence. Your pets will know that something is up. I should arrive early enough to re-establish the relationship with your pets and go over additional details with you but, not so early as to interfere with your travel preparations.

The fourth task is for me to be at your home until your return or to physically pass off care of your pets and home to a responsible person of your choosing.
