Professional pet-sitting industry celebrates 10th annual Pet-Sitter Education Month
Observance creator Pet Sitters International is highlighting the advancements in educational resources for pet sitters and dog walkers in the past decade and beyond.
KING, N.C. (August 28, 2025) — September 2025 is Pet Sitters International’s 10th annual Pet-Sitter Education Month™, and to celebrate this milestone event, the association is highlighting how pet-sitter education is more accessible than ever for those looking to start or grow a successful business.
Pet Sitters International (PSI), the world’s leading educational association for professional pet-sitting and dog-walking business owners, created the annual Pet-Sitter Education Month observance in 2016 to shine a spotlight on professional pet sitters’ commitment to continuing education and the growing number of educational resources available to today’s professional pet sitters and dog walkers.
“Since 1994, PSI has remained committed to putting the best educational tools and resources at pet sitters’ fingertips, at an affordable price, and we continue to innovate to meet the needs of busy pet-care professionals,” said PSI President Beth Stultz-Hairston. “In the last decade, we’ve added a monthly online learning subscription for pet sitters and dog walkers (PETSIT PRO), launched our FOCUS One-Day Online Summit series, added a monthly toolkit and online training for PSI members, and more.”
To assist professional pet sitters in taking advantage of educational opportunities in the industry this month, PSI has made available a Pet-Sitter Education Month section on petsit.com that includes links to pet-sitter resources and special September discounts on education products. PSI members have access to additional resources through their Monthly Member Toolkit, including a training video and Continuing Education Planner, as well as a free media challenge with PR tips and resources.
“New and veteran pet sitters and dog walkers can feel confident that easy-to-access education is available to help them build the businesses of their dreams and grow their pet-care knowledge,” Stultz-Hairston said.
“Pet parents can also have peace of mind knowing that they don’t have to settle for untrained or inexperienced pet lovers to care for their pets,” Stultz-Hairston continued. “Trained, professional pet sitters and dog walkers are available to meet their needs.”
PSI encourages pet parents to inquire about pet sitters’ training and credentials prior to booking services and provides a free Pet-Sitter Interview Checklist at petsit.com.
