Due to privacy concerns, PSI does not provide information on members other than what is listed for public display on our Locator. PSI does not provide mailing lists of its members for any purpose. Solicitation of members through the PSI Locator for the sale of goods and services is prohibited.
Pet Sitters International is an educational organization and does not inspect or police member businesses. Our Locator information is provided solely as a courtesy to help pet owners identify pet sitters in their area, and PSI assumes no liability in connection with any information listed.
What does the “Background Check PASSED” designation mean?
PSI displays this symbol to indicate that the member has opted to have a criminal background check performed by Sterling Infosystems, a leading private provider of background screening services, and that Sterling has reported that the member passed this check. PSI does not conduct the search, and reports the results here solely as a courtesy and without liability. At this time verification for the Locator is only available to U.S. members. Click here to see how the search is conducted and what the results mean.
Before engaging anyone to come into your home, you should do your own investigation.
For more information on obtaining background verifications, see “How to Have a Conversation with Your Pet Sitter About Background Verification.” PSI also encourages pet owners to check references on any pet sitter prior to hiring, and the Pet Owners section of our website has tools, such as the Pet Sitter Interview, that can be helpful in interviewing and hiring a pet sitter.
We do our very best to keep things up to date, so everyone you find on the locator service should be a current member of PSI. If you run across a pet sitter who claims to be a PSI member or displays the PSI logo but isn’t on the locator, please call us to confirm membership.
