Who is A.B. Poppins?

A. B. Poppins is Amanda Barger-Williams of Louisville, KY. For over 30 years, she has been casually pet sitting for family and friends, as well as, caring for her own pack of dogs. Amanda has been a lifelong animal lover and grew up with many pets that were part of her family.

Amanda grew up in North Carolina, attended Wake Forest University, and began her professional life as a high school history teacher in Memphis. After a few years, she decided to take a different route and became a veterinary technician. In 2002, she moved to Springfield, MA, and worked as an emergency and intensive care unit veterinary technician for 6 years and then as a technician and hospital manager in a wellness veterinary clinic. In 2014, Amanda left the veterinary field and began working as a dog walker and pet sitter for Furry Friends Pet Sitting (now Rocket Boy Pet Sitting) in East Longmeadow, MA.

In an effort to be closer to their families, Amanda and her husband loaded up the pups and moved to Johnson City, TN in December 2015. Then, in June 2019, they re-located to Louisville, KY, for a better job for her husband. Because having a pet sitter care for her pups in her home has always been so important for Amanda, she is happy to be able to provide this service for others.
